Health advice for traveling families, made simple.

Imagine you are traveling with your young family to a different state or unfamiliar country, and one of the children wakes complaining of a sore throat. Your spouse has had diarrhea for 3 days, or your little one has a cut that might need stitches. These concerns are tough enough at home, let alone on another continent! What you need is a medical spouse — someone to talk through all your concerns with.

Should your child go on a field trip tomorrow? What can you take to rehydrate in a foreign land? How do we care for stitches after a day at the beach?

Welcome to Meraki Mobile Nursing! Your 24/7 resource for consultation and brainstorming on the medical issues that may arise while you and your family explore the world!

About Meraki

Michele’s husband survived open heart surgery, and with the money saved from preparing for the worst, she decided to be impetuous, brave, (or crazy!) and take her two small children to Italy for three months with a world schooling company called Boundless Life. The time spent there was magical, powerful, and busy! Amid the towering spires of Florence’s cathedrals and the well-worn cobbled streets of Pistoia, Michele encountered incredible people who sought medical advice or needed help navigating medical dilemmas. That’s when she realized there was a real need for traveling families to have someone committed to helping them decide the “next step” in health matters.

Our Heart & Soul

When Michele and the kids spent three months in Greece next, this community of like-minded explorers helped her find a path to what would become Meraki Mobile Nursing. She set out to create a foundation built on the joy of nursing and the passion of exploring this incredible world.

In Greek, the word Meraki is often translated as ‘doing something with soul, creativity, and love or the pride and care of putting the essence of yourself into your work.’ Michele absolutely loves being a nurse. For her, best part about nursing is using that nursing knowledge and skill to facilitate, promote, and enrich the lives of others.

We chose to use the upside-down Greek letter “psi” (the 23rd letter in the Modern Greek alphabet) as the M in Meraki because of the connection to the word psyche, which means ‘life,’ ‘soul,’ and ‘heart’ in Greek. We pour our heart and soul into Meraki Mobile Nursing, and we can’t wait to share our care with you!

With gratitude,

Michele
